Ron Vallis & Martin Peters
Our focus at Dunbar Pottery is our continuing interest in the Leach/Hamada and European and Japanese folk art traditions of utilitarian hand made pottery.
Martin Peters trained with Walter Dexter and Frances Hatfiield at the Kootenay School of Art in Nelson, B.C. ; Mick Henry at the Slug Pottery in Robert's Creek, B.C. ; Bernard Leach, William Marshall, Janet Leach and John Reeves at the Leach Pottery in St. Ive's Cornwall. Martin Peters and Ron Vallis founded the Dunbar Pottery in Vancouver, B.C. in 2007.
Ron Vallis trained with John Reeve, Sally Michener and Tam Irving at the Vancouver School of Art; apprenticed with Tam Irving in West Vancouver and worked with John Reeve on Granville Island. Ron works with the simple domestic stoneware vessel as an expressive metaphorical object within the discipline of the traditional tools of wheel and fire.

In 2010 John Reeves left some works made in our studio over several visits. He was unable to return and passed in 2012. These works have been verified as his last. We have finished some of these and are offering them for sale with all proceeds going to support his widow Phylis Blair who is now in poor health.
